Management Team
Our management philosophy is based on responsibility and mutual respect. People who work at Spotlight want to work at Spotlight because we have an environment that encourages creativity and achievement.
We have a two dimensional approach to our management team. Each of the members of the team have strategic responsibility while at the same time line responsibility. This enables the strength of the management team to be best utilised across the organisation whilst focusing on specific disciplines of the company. Strategic responsibility is as follows:
Philippe Moretonas
Managing Director
- Began computing experience consulting in Decision Support Systems.
- Managed the Natal consulting operation of Decision Information at the age of 21, eventually taking over the Cape operation.
- Doubled the size of the consulting operation within a period of 2 years, focusing on consulting to large enterprises in the executive information systems and Artificial Intelligence.
- Became an Agent for one of the leading life companies in South Africa with a view to developing the Spotlight product, which resulted in the success of the product as it was the first product to address the real needs of the Financial Advisor.
- Founded Spotlight Interactive in March 1994 and has since been instrumental in growing the business to its current state today.
- Currently Philippe focuses his efforts on the strategic direction and initiative for Spotlight Interactive.

- Five years experience as a support consultant at Old Mutual
- Started with Spotlight 10 years ago and quickly became a vital part of the management team, his understanding of the Advisor is vital to bridging the gap between the development process and the user requirements.
- Manages the development and delivery of all Spotlight products into the market place.
- Substantially involved in the business development side of the Spotlight products working closely with the sales team.
- Line Responsibility: Heads up the Development, Business Analysis and Testing area in Spotlight.

Rob Pritchard
Business Development Manager
- Began his career in the Life Assurance industry with Sanlam in 1990. From 1991 – 1998, spent time as a Broker Consultant with Protea and Momentum. During this time Rob completed a ‘double ILPA’ as well as a Business Management Diploma.
- Sage Life as Regional Manager ( 1998 - 2001 ).
- Rob practiced as a Financial Advisor with BDO Spencer Steward (Chartered Accountants) for 18 months before being approached to rejoin Momentum.
- Rejoined Momentum in 2002 and headed up their Technology Marketing division as well as playing an active role in running compliance for their Agency force.
- At PlanTech SA - he headed up the marketing of their range of software solutions and became part of the IRESS Group through their acquisition of PlanTech in March 2007.
- IRESS acquired Spotlight in July 2007, and Rob currently heads up Business Development for the Spotlight Company.
Nuala Clamp
Manager - Account Executives
- Started her career in the Financial Services Industry in 1989 as a Broker Consultant for various life offices.
- Senior Financial Planner 1997 until 1999 Nedcor Personal Financial Planning
- In 1999 Nuala founded Klarion Consultancy Network CC that focused on providing holistic compliance and practice management services to the Independent Financial Advisor and Investment Managers.
- During this time, Nuala worked on various industry committees, in the money laundering and compliance fields, and has solid knowledge and experience in implementing and application within the business process.
- 2002 sold Klarion’s IP and methodology to Advicenet Advisory Services (Pty) Ltd and took up the post of Head of Practice Management for the company. 2006 took on the additional function of managing the implementation staff for the IFA market.
- 2007 appointed as Accounts Executive Manager, responsible for all the implementation and telesales in the IFA market.
- Currently studying B Comm.. Law UNISA
- Registered Compliance Officer (FSP1 and FSP11)
Brenda Meyrick

Karl Beaton
Manager - Regional
- Sales and Marketing Diploma and MCSE.
- MBA (Dip)
- Southern Life Agency Management Certificate.
- Five Years - ran his own Life and Short Term Brokerage.
- Worked in the UK, Europe and USA financial services software industry.
- Was involved in the original project that scoped and then provided standard and compliment electronic quotes and application forms to the IFA's in the UK.
- Has extensive experience working with standards bodies like ACORD and ORIGO.
- Responsible for the distribution and projects of Spotlight to the product providers ( Liberty Life, Sanlam, Old Mutual, Discovery Life, BoE, Xchange Solutions, Allan Gray ) in South Africa.
- Also responsible for the other channels and IFA’s in the Cape Coastal Region.
Riaan Scheepers
Manager - Regional
- Began his computing career in the treasury department in London in 1997
- Returned to South Africa to focus his attention on the financial sector within SDT Financial Solutions and ultimately introduced their financial systems internationally.
- Joined PlanTech (in Australia) in 2002 and for a number of years, held the position of Team Leader - Operations. Returning to South Africa in 2005 to head up PlanTech as Operations Manager.
- In July 2007 Riaan accepted the position of Regional Manager - Corporate Clients Gauteng within the Spotlight Company.
